In the arena, reputation is set aside, your mighty army and powerful base defenses
are meaningless, and all that matters is your skill and cunning. How well can you
read your opponent? How skillfully can you trick and mislead, manipulate and outwit?
Put yourself to the test in the Scepter Arena.
First you must purchase a squad. Get to know the units of your squad well, what they can
do, what they attack and how best they function. Then get to fighting. You
can challenge anyone that is online to either a practice match (doesn't count towards
your record) or a full arena match. All arena matches count towards your record.
At the end of each week, the Section Leader with the most arena match wins is awarded
100,000 of each resource! Not only that, each week (tick) the reigning champion
holding the most wins overall is awarded an additional 10,000 of each resource. As you can imagine, a skillfull player of the Scepter Dome can become quite
wealthy indeed. Also, the more you win the more access you'll have to higher level squads.
A match, practice or full recorded arena match, works like this: there are four rounds
of combat, each with just a 2 minute break in between for switching out units. In the
first round, the challenger attacks and the chalenged defends. Second round, challenger
is on defense and challenged is on the attack, and so on. The significance of this,
as anyone that has fought any battles on Cincomm-9 knows, is that when units of the
same speed attack at the same time, the attacker gets the advantage and attacks first!!!
Knowing this is crucial, as you must decided differently how you will respond and
which units you will use depending on whether you are on defense or offense.
But what you must really want to know is... "sounds good, but how do I win?"
Good question.
Each round, both sides are awarded a certain amount of points for how
they faired. And here is where the strategy really kicks into gear. It's not enough
simply to destroy units... there are many ways to win a match. Points are awarded
for putting tarantulas in the arena and keeping them alive, for every enemy unit destroyed,
and for various feats, such as destroying all of a single type of unit (Annihilation Bonus),
destroying all enemy units in the arena (Total Annihilation Bonus), and for destroying more
enemy units than the enemy destroys of your own when youhave less units in (Strategic Victory Bonus).
However, you can't just blindly through all of your units in and hope for the best - you also
lose points for every unit you put in! It may sound like a lot at first, but the matches go quick and you learn even quicker.
Eventually, you'll become a true master of the arena and every move you make will calculate
the risks of your opponent getting a bonus on you, the chances of you getting a bonus
over your opponent, and the trickery, the terrible trickery that goes on... the
lengths that people will go to for a victory. In fact, it may be that you turn out to
be one of those people... one that gets involved in underground dealings, purchasing
unit hack programs to boost stats, or - oops! I may have said too much... All that you really
need to know is listed in the rules below. Good luck, Section Leader!
Rules:
Practice Matches are not recorded in the Arena Records
Once you accept a challenge, the match begins and cannot end until it is finished.
Rounds advance automatically every 2 minutes, and there are 4 rounds. The first round will last slightly longer than 2 minutes to be sure that both sides have a chance to make their first move.
The Challenger attacks first, then attacks alternate, defender-challenger-defender.
Points:
KD Goal: 10 points for any Tarantula that enters the Arena and survives the round
Total Annhilation: 250 points for destroying all opponent units during in a round
Unit Annhilation: 50 points for destroying all of one type of an opponent unit during in a round
Strat Bonus: 250 points for destroying more opponent units during in a round when you had less units in the arena than the opponent

Iceflame's Arena Tips
The arena is a bit complicated in how it works, so this simple guide to strategy in the arena should help you know what is best to do.
After you purchase your squad, you have the option to fight in the arena or fight a practice match. It is good to try new things out with practice matches so you can know what you are doing for the arena matches.
To fight in the arena, you need to challenge someone, and have them accept, or accept someone else's challenge.
After you have either accepted someone's challenge, or someone has accepted your challenge, you will be taken into the arena battle area, there you will choose how your squad will fight.
The basic strategy for the arena is to get the most points to win... The best way to do this is having surviving tarantulas since they give the most points. The way you fight, is you choose your units, and put them in the arena, then they match off against the opponents units that have been put into the arena. You can change wich units you have in the arena every round, and there are a total of four rounds.
For putting units in the arena, there are only 3 reasons to put any units in the arena, they are:
1. for points
2. to kill other units
3. as fodder
The explination of why you would do these things, and when you should, and how is best is as follows:
1. to get points, you put tarantulas in the arena. If they survive you get points for them, this is simple.
2. This is the most complex part of the arena, there are several reasons you would want to kill other units:
A. to keep the opponent from getting points, this is accomplished by killing their tarantulas.
B. to keep them from killing your tarantulas by killing their asu units. This is very important for you to get a high score in the arena.
C. to kill any units that are, or would, stop you from accomplishing goals A and B. This is to keep your own ASUs and other units alive.
3. Fodder. To keep your important units alive, you can put some unimportant units(perferably with high armor) into the arena to die in the place of the better, more important units. However, this only works if they are the primary target, since otherwise they wouldn't be attacked first.
How to put your units in the arena is also a difficult choice, and I will explain the best way to put your units in the arena to get the most use out of them.
When you are going to put a unit in the arena, for the 3 reasons mentioned above, this is how you should do it:
1. only put your tarantulas in the arena if you think you will either be able to kill all the ASUs or if you don't think they will have any in the arena that round. If you are going to put any tarantulas in the arena, it is best to put them all in, that way, even if you lose some, you will still get the points from the surviving ones.
2. When you are putting a unit in the arena to kill something, only put just enough to finish the job, don't put extra units in because they will lower your score. When you put them in, remember that any that are killed before they get a chance to shoot won't deal their damage, so add enough that the survivers will be able to kill enough of what you want to(it is best to put all of any one unit type in if you are going to put any of them in, since it is unlikely that any less will be enough)
3. As fodder, you just want enough to stop the enemy attack, no more. If you put 50 in, and they only kill 20, you have wasted 30 points for nothing(unless they actually attack and are useful, but then they are not just fodder)
Popoko's Arena Tips
Important:
1)Tarantulas are most important units(yours and your enemy's). Kill enemy's and protect your own since tarantulas get you much needed points to deflect loss of points due to deployment.
2)Deployment of a lot of units to get a lot of kill points (might lose all your units as well) does not mean victory and deployment of a few units to make the other lose more points for deployment does not mean victory.
Combat:
1)Find out what your units can attack.
2)Find out what units the enemy has.
3)Guess his strongest unit or favorite unit, and know that he will use that unit often. Find what will kill that unit or find what will not even be touched by that unit and use those.
4)Your goal is to kill his tarantulas and his goal is the same, to kill yours. Here is where everything gets complicated...
