END-ROUND SUMMARY

Having learned of the perils of the Repair Factory, this round started off dubbed Apex vs. Fate: the Rematch. FATE saw the return of one of its stronger players of old, Gen. MightyMateo, and Gen. woodall had a plan for the round to take care of Apex. Once again, the two clans agreed to a 400 week NAP while both fought C9C and other enemies gearing up for the war. During the off-season (the Chaos Round) Apex acquired a retired MVP player who decided he wanted some action. Elder Wraith of TLS decided to leave his meditation on TLS mountain and join in the wars below.

Gen. Smidsy layed out the plan for Apex in a forum post following Round 17: "Outposts have been the most interesting development so far.... outpost wars are dominating proceedings and bloody hell they are tough! Overall we aim to dominate the outposts on Cincomm. If successful, then later in the round this will play to our advantage..."

I am told that Gen. Woodall had similar plans of outpost dominance for FATE. The outposts were a new feature in Round 17 and everyone was getting adjusted, but by now, it was clear to all on the leaderboard that they are essential. It looked like a good match was forming.

But sadly, tradegy struck. Just days before the NAP was to end there was a scandal involving a few FATE members. The clan nearly imploded over it, two members dropped out and the leader, Gen. Woodall, left his post. The adhoc leader of FATE requested a NAP extension from Apex, which Apex granted. When the extension expired and the war began, there was not much of a fight. Apex had a strong cohesive unit and dominated like never before. They came close to doing something that no clan has ever done - they were only one spot shy of sweeping the entire HOF for the round.

Some FATE players remained to hold down the fort, including Gen. Fortress, and Elders PieChee and Yanmustwin, however, it was all they could do to keep Apex from sweeping the board.

Surprisingly, the fight for the 9th and 10th spots intensified in the last week and a half or so. Near the top were a Chaos member, a C9C member and an unaffiliated. Also worth mentioning are Maj. Armageddon of clan Merc and Col. Defiant of clan Chaos. Based on their performance, these could be some of the up and coming next generation.
