END-ROUND SUMMARY

ROUND 21: AUG. 25 - OCT. 3
Unfortunately since I am unaware of the internal war context, I can only give external review and put things into a historical context for this round.

After the dramatic finish in the 20th Cycle, Apex, the current top clan, made the announcement that it was breaking up. Justinsane also announced his de facto retirement, having finally achieved the ellusive Green Star honor. He now joins the elite few that have managed to break into the Hall of Fame five times.

The two Apex leaders, Smidsy and Nastydog, each went separate ways, with Smidsy going solo and Nastydog starting a new clan, recruiting some of the old Apex members as well as a few promising new recruits. High ranking member brokensaint started his own new clan as well, SaDe. Broken, largely alone, would go on to finish at the number one spot.

Nastydog and former Apex comrade Lewisha led the new clan Shadow Tactical (S~T~C) into an excellent first round, both earning HoF spots.

A relatively new clan called WORM also emerged, led by TheEye, who was the first one to discover the Legend Sandworm (LS). The LS had been rumored to exist for over 2 RL years now with no one knowing how to unlock it before TheEye finally discovered the research tree that released it upon Cincomm-9. Being the only holder of the LS, TheEye went solo for the 20th Cycle to test things out and started a clan soon after the beginning of the 21st Cycle. Joining his banner was Maxlore, who also achieved recognition in being the first to complete the Minewars Advanced lost mines challenge. He proved to be adept in the world of Cincomm-9 as well, earning a HoF star this round.

Fortress, who had been the preventor of a full Apex sweep in Round 18, joined Apex breifly then left to join Loneson's Merc clan in the 19th Cycle (see 19th Cycle history for the full story on Fortress). Lonesone has not been mentioned in a while, so a bit of history is in order here. He is, I beleive, the former player Mystic from days long past. In the 2nd Cycle he started the Dominators (DOM) clan but was ultimately betrayed by his members and defeated along with METRO in the greatest back stabbing of all time, see 3rd Cycle history. Mystic wandered for a while before joining HC under the leadership of one of the (currently only 5) Legends leaders, strange. He would be a part of the HC clan that first achieved a feat that has only been matched once (by TLS in the 12th Cycle) - the entire clan made the HoF in the 6th Cycle occupying all of the top spots. Mystic disappeared for many rounds soon after, and returned as Loneson to start Mercenary Central (Merc)

By the 18th Cycle Merc had already been making waves from picking up excellent members in Armageddon, Balance, and Woodall. After fighting against Apex, they were commended by Apex leader smidsy as a clan with great potential. With the break up of Apex, Merc stepped up to be the most aggressive attacking clan. The duo of Fortress and Armageddon was a powerful tagteam effort, which earned them both HoF spots.

Armageddon of Merc and Defiant of Chaos both were recognized for their potential in the HoF summary of the 18th Cycle, and both rose to the occasion and earned HoF stars in this round. Defiant would be the one to make sure the Chaos miners legacy lives on.

Another name of old returned, Nicholson1. A former member of an old power clan, Kings, the last clan of the infamous Barryf, he returned and fit into C9C like a puzzle piece, earning a spot in the Hof. C9C leader Ozz, the one who prevented a full Apex sweep in the 20th Cycle, earned his third straight HoF finish. Ozz and crew have hung in with C9C through many hard wars and their patience and perseverance is paying off as many of C9C members are now turning out to be marquee leaders.

RECORDS:
  • It is unknown if Brokensaint was a one-man clan the entire round, but if he was, this would be the first time a solo player has ever achieved number 1.
  • Both Smidsy and Nastydog continue their record setting streak of now 9 consecutive HoF appearances dating back to the 13th Cycle.
  • Smidsy fell just short of tying the current record of 3 consecutive number 1 finishes, currently held by Cvelle.
