END-ROUND SUMMARY (cont.)
Overview
As much as it is a part of war, diplomacy played a large factor in this round, and it sounds like there
were a lot of shakeups. Let's start at the top and give a brief overiew of the
players in this symphony.
Coming out in full force and for the first time taking first place, C9C garnered
half of the top ten spots, making this the best round for them in clan history.
Founder and leader Ozz joined the rank of the elite with his fifth HOF appearance,
earning him the coveted green star. In addition, he pinned another accolade stripe
on his
shoulder that not many can claim - the number 1 finish.
It was a well deserved victory for C9C, a clan which a long time ago was filled
with 30+ newbies and considered by many a huge target. Looks like the times have changed.
They have trimmed down their numbers, held on to their top vets like Elders
BrianOHWD and Kieu, and stopped
recuiting new players. No longer are they viewed as newbies, they
have transformed and now become "the power". This fact was proven,
as Ozz noted, by an attack against C9C by their long time friend, one of the
five legend players, Elder Megatron.
According to Ozz, since the clan's formation some 9 rounds ago, Megatron
has never attacked C9C. But he is noted throughout the history of Cincomm-9
for attacking the reigning superpower. In a true statesman fashion,
said Ozz: "We took his hits on us as a compliment."
C9C's big finish did not come without turmoil. One of its senior council, JasonSky,
departed after arguments over a controversial set of attacks he excuted without
council approval near the end of Round 21. He left on less than favorable terms and joined
Chaos.
Chaos, the oldest clan in the game, was a long time
ally of C9C, and perhaps that connection was what allowed Jasonsky to get in.
But he was soon joined by top notch players
Elders smidsy and brokensaint. Now I suppose there aren't many clans that
would turn down these two, but I must say this was an interesting move, considering the history.
Chaos is the top mining clan in the game. Their style of play does not
match that of smidsy and brokensaint's former clan Apex, which was primarily an attacking clan.
See the Round 16 summary for a review of the clash of miners vs attackers for score
and HOF. In that round, it came out to a draw with Chaos and Apex evenly
splitting 5 HOF's.
This inclusion of attackers among miners disrupted ancient boundaries. Led
by smidsy, Chaos would
attack C9C, a move which turned out for the worst for the mining clan.
As smidsy would soon discover, that one word, diplomacy. War and diplomacy
go hand in hand, choosing allies, forming NAP's, enraging enemies - diplomacy
can make all the difference, and you never know who you should've teamed up
with till the end.
There weren't many changes in MERC or STC, both looked pretty much the same
way they did last round. And now, let's get to the good stuff. Everyone had their point of view,
it should
be interesting for them to see what the others were thinking.
