Unsung
"Fortress and Armageddon are my main concern, I don't mean to sound over confident, but we feel we can manage Megaton, I think I know him well enough to counter his strat, after all, most of everything learned and taught in C9C back in the day, came from him and strange. I have that clan forum memorized in my head...after all...I created the training threads in C9C...the general advice, defensive advice, attacking advice, arena advice...all of it...maintained and edited for rounds...C9C wouldn't have its success without me....and yea I'm bitter..."
So begins the tragic story of the warrior who, as he would put it, is the oldest section leader bearing the title "Elder" yet to earn his rightful place in history and mark his name among the champions. As of this writing, Elder Jasonsky is battle scarred and grizzled by 904 days of war, but his eye is not dim nor his mind dull. He remains quick on the draw and consistently places among the top 5 on the Viciousness list. The misfortune of his story is worth noting in this summary.
It was but a few rounds ago that Elder Jasonsky decided to leave the clan he had been one of the original members of, C9C. While there, he was the right hand man of its founder, Elder Ozz. Jason and Ozz had seen countless battles side by side, and for a greater part of the early years, a lot of disheartening loss together. Their's was the hard luck of existence during the sixth era of dominance, which was also the longest: the reign of Apex. The Apex dynasty lasted from round 14 to 20, and ironically, it began in the round right after the inception of C9C. From both of these rival clans beginnings, the victor was determined well in advance by their goals, an observation which seems inevitable in hindsight. I remember those days, the ambitious leaders announcing their goals. Nastydog boldly declared: "We, Apex, will be the next TLS. We will gather the elite and begin the new era of dominance!" Ozz, conversely, proclaimed: "The Commonwealth of Cincomm-9 shall be a refuge and a haven for accepting all new players, teaching and training them in the arts of war and combat."
Yes, looking back, there is little doubt as to which would emerge the victor in a clash between clans with those two visions.
C9C remained true to its principals of accepting and training the new and initiate for round after round, and suffered the consequences of repeated loss for it. How many times were they forced to encourage themselves and hope for a better future in the face of futility? How many times were they left to take pride only in their nobility while they yearned for the stars that Apex was gathering at a record-setting pace? If one were to ask Elder Jasonsky, far too many times.
"To tell the story from my side of the controversy, after having enough of Ozz's lectures, I dropped outta the clan, attacked and leveled every single player I helped train (I know, real Anakin Skywalker type stuff here) just to send a message..."
The message was, he'd had enough. Enough of losing. Enough of nobility of the Commonwealth. Enough of the advice of his friend and leader, Ozz. He betrayed his clan and left, after having gone through so much. But timing is everything.
Jason should have shook the eight ball one more time and asked should I leave now or not - two significant changes occurred around the exact time he went on his trek. First, the Commonwealth of Cincomm-9 (C9C) changed its vision and purpose. No longer would it accept all newbies. It had grown tired of its punching bag reputation, knowing that it had some of the best among its ranks who were too weighed down to show their full potential.
Second, mighty Apex did what seemingly no one else could do at the time, it dismantled itself. After Round 22, coming within just literally a hair's breadth of accomplishing the impossible feat that has never been done - a full HoF sweep - Apex decided to part ways. One of its top players, Cvelle, who holds the record for the most consecutive number 1 finishes, retired, and founders Nastydog and Smidsy split up, with Nastydog forming Shadow Tactical Clan (STC).
Consequently, with those two changes Round 22 saw the immediate rise of C9C to power. That statement almost deserves an exclamation point. Had Jasonsky stuck to it one more round, would his name be recorded among the champions? This is one of the many tragedies of Minewars.
