ok, in the last couple of weeks ive discovered that it will be possible to attack your way into the leaderboard. no superbase. no massive army. no huge haul of kd's. i would love to give this a go myself for a full round. its not my usual strat so if anybody else can see anything ive missed please add it!

you WILL need to be supported by a good network of outposts for res, or by the rest of your clanmates.  a crystal mining outposts would also be an advantage, however i think that for solo players this could be the way to go. combine with selling top units on market and bobs your uncle so to speak. the biggest snag is that success depends on activity, the more active you are the more attacks you will be able to do and the more score you will gain.

20dm route, you WILL need access to lvl4 units.
researches

near the beginning of the round, research the "recyclable" researches - fortifications and advanced excavations (it is vital to have secure hanger to max for this strat) for those who dont know - these researches can be canceled to free up the data modules without losing the benefits, as long as you have constructed the fortifications or caverns before you cancel.
get space done next and research mx7's. (im pretty sure you need space physics and one space port fully researched)
i aslo researched advanced esp units, constructed them, got them off earning me res and score and cancelled the research.
building up security is not as vital as when you are aiming for a superbase but do not neglect it totally. standard esp is much more important.

also vital during beginning of round is small scale attacks to build up general bonus. this is probably the biggest attacking advantage you can have. if your general is better than theirs then you will kill far more units than expected. always a good thing lol

important attacking reseaches.

tour of duty
speed of attack
transwarp drive
advanced warfare (i had never used this before, now i have i am addicted! 1k demolishers on siege or 1k grims on g-strike is awesome!)

total = 20dm! (you would think that wufey planned it this way!)

the object is to kill anything you can for score, when you stay low in rep you will find that most bases you can target will have a gap that can be exploited by either an instant ship unit or a specialist unit like grims.

i always tried to keep a stock of grims, and in my secure hanger some other units that are great for those gaps you will find - shockers and spite being favourites.

look for the gaps and exploit them!

because of the low numbers of units involved this is not a hugely expensive strat.

have fun and watch your score rocket!

its been about 10 days since i dropped rep this round and in that time i have gained approx 3.6 mil score. and a hell of a lot of fun it was too  :-)

Good info there. This would be great stuff for the new manual wufey told about where you have different routes to go. This would be 20dm assassin i guess.

its great, nice one, just to add cc is a very powerful tool, if you are going to do this, having these from a outpost or a clan mate will help, as some targets max on base sec quick. also getting esp units will only be a advantage from start of round onwards, nearly and later you leave it less likely they will be worthy. i would say as you can have 50 units to get this

8 vermin
14 mech killers
4 heli killers
4 asu killers
20 gt

(sorry for not adding there names to lazy to get them as i always get them the wrogn way)

ok, ive had a few rounds with the new rule set and have some more stuff to add.

not the easiest way to play the game. this kind of strat does work well but relies on a few things

1 - great support from clanmates.
2 - high level of activity
3 - good diplomatic skills
4 - everyone in your clan needs to be singing from the same hymsheet, working toward the same goals.

ground work, sort before round starts -

i dont think it would be possible to do this alone, you need res, you need to share unit plans and you need teamwork to take out your chosen targets. you need to specialise in a certain area for maximum success. last round i went the space route with moderate success (why it wasnt better ill get to in a bit) share out specialisations to different players. by the time the round starts you should have these areas covered. apex did not complete this strat to its maximum last round because we didnt have enough players to fill the roles we needed, this meant crossover and compromise. much harder to do that way.

res gathering - at least one but the more the better. unfortunately in this strat it will be the res gatherers that suffer. their high rep will compromise their attacking score boost and as the clan will be at war it will be difficult to mine score. apex was lucky in that we had an experienced player volounteer for the job.

space domination - winning the space race makes it hard for other clans to keep mines, coffers or hangers. vital in cutting income and score for your rivals

ground attack - clearing the way with ground forces. simple effective warfare. and good fun too

air attack - air has got more popular so you need a specialist to take out air forces by whatever means necessary.

tara killer - you need to stop the score building of rival clans, so steal their kd's and if yu cant keep them then kill them. this role can be combined with other attacking strats and used with ff generator can gain a decent ammount of score from holding kds while ff is up.

to begin with get the right researches done, but take your time. dont rush out and bc everything in to be the first to get mines done or the first to have a certain plan. you WANT everyone else to rush ahead and watch their rep rise as well as your score bonus rise! wait for the right time to launch a major attack.

alliances with similar thinking clans can work well, you dont want to be a target for every other player out there! there are plenty of targets out there to keep you going.

goals- get maximum score from destroying every enemy base you can while cutting of res income and score gain from your enemies. remember that and this strat might just work for you ;-)
