Mine Wars: Cincomm-9 Sandbox (testing area)
A Call From An Old Contact
"A remnant of Terris Lien? Impossible. Terris Lien does not exist."
Terris Lien, the legendary planet with a core of solid Bytanium. You aren't sure when the legend began, but countless expeditions have been sent into the deepest recesses of space searching for this mythical treasure planet. Every now and then some nut case claims to have found it, but no one searching for it has ever returned as a multi-billionaire. You can't believe that after not hearing from this guy for years when he finally calls it's about mythical treasure hunting nonsense. You almost end the transmission.
"But it does! Hear me out! Do you remember when Wendell Rohr plead guilty to fraud?"
"Of course. No one believed he did it."
"Right. Rohr is the model of corporate integrity. Does everything by the book. He's won countless awards for community service, planetary service, his companies have always been impeccable and transparent -"
"Get to the point."
"Right. Well, I found out why he plead guilty! The charges were false, set up by his rival Borris in conjunction with the IGADA, but there was something Rohr needed to hide. Something that would have been discovered if there was a trial. You know in a trial there is discovery, where documents and stuff-"
"Yeah I know about discovery in trials. So what?"
"Ever heard of Cincomm-9?"
You rack your brain for a moment. "Cincomm… some type of drone production company?"
"No, not a company. A drone. Cincomm is a drone series built for autonomous deep space exploration. But Cincomm-9 -"
"Wait. I remember now. Something about a super insider deal. Biped…"
"Right. You travel in circles with the big boys if you know about about that."
"But that was a bust." You think back to when you first heard about Cincomm-9. It was an investment you passed up and were glad that you did. Turned out a lot of insiders lost money on that deal, thinking it was going to be an incredible new real estate market developing on some newly discovered asteroid. The roid was huge, but there were a few unexpected problems that brought resort and commercial development to a hault.
"Everyone that invested in Cincomm-9 lost," you recall. "And what does that have to do with Rohr?"
"Now listen closely. You're not going to believe this. Rohr went to Cincomm-9. He was one of the first to know about it. The rumors about Cincomm-9 being a bust were all started by Bi-ped."
"Yes, because of the shape, I believe."
"Do you really think in this day and age the shape of a roid is that much of a problem?"
"Well, but doesn't it also pass too close by the star Sierus?"
"Come on, back in the original solar system we have colonies on the Merc roids that get
rebuilt every 6 years!"
"But on Cincomm-9, that would be every year. Not worth it."
"Hold on now, let me finish. Here's why it's worth it. Rohr went to Cincomm-9. For some reason, and I think he knows way more than anyone can imagine, but for some reason, he took with him… a K-drone."
"What?"
"You can send someone over here right now. I have pods full of Bytanium. Cincomm-9 is somewhere around 60% Bytanium. And I believe, as do quite a few others, it's actually a piece of Terris Lien. A small piece. And Rohr is on his way to find more. He took that K-drone there and found out what Cincomm-9 really was. One giant freakin' Bytanium mine!"
You sit in stunned silence. Your contact wouldn't lie to you, not about something this big. A million thoughts rush through your head, but mainly you've got to figure out one thing: how can you get back in on this rush! The answer comes sooner than you expected.
"I thought that'd get your attention. Now listen. I know about your military background, that's why I contacted you."
"Military… what are you talking about?"
"Why do you think I'm back here and not on Cincomm-9? It's like a freakin' warzone back there now! My whole operation got wiped out! But I got away with a good amount of Bytanium, enough to go back and rebuild. Normal investors like me don't stand a chance though. But you, you have contacts. Those military vehicle factories on Baka, your old general friends and what not, you've got a chance of establishing and holding down a mine on Cincomm-9."
Your mind goes back to your war days, when you commanded armies in countless battles. You thought those days were behind you. But now… Cincomm-9. Terris Lien.
"Wait. If Cincomm-9 is a part of Terris Lien, how did it… where did it…"
"Well that's a part I haven't told you about, part of a big mystery. How could such a big piece of a planet been broken off? There's been some… speculation. Some discoveries that point towards… well, something alien."
"Alien?!" you say incredulously.
