NEXT ROUND COMMENTARY

A charismatic and well connected leader, Justinsane quickly and easily attracted some of the strongest section leaders in the game to his side, among them the Elders Caw and Cheerios, the veterens and highly active warriors Col. Lewisha and Maj. Scilya, ans most surprising of all his pull was great enough even to cause the founders and leaders of the two most up-and-coming clans FOM and FATE to leave their clans and join his cause. FOM and FATE both began, I believe, in the 11th round. Many new clans come and go round after round but I was closely watching these two clans (along with one other, ADOVC) to see their progress. Both grew to respectable sizes quite quickly and both maintained a steady presense in all leader boards. As you can see, a clan leader from each finished in the top in the HOF, leader Maj. Woodall of FATE and Maj. Turnip of FOM. These clans were seemingly on the right path and achieved success... I will always wonder what did Justin say to the leaders of FOM and FATE that would cause them to believe in his cause and leave their clans and join CRAZY. Justin's new clan has an excellent mix of proven leaders, veterans, and Elders. Will this clan indeed be the one to stop TLS?

With some small amount of regret, the question may never be answered without a small asterix. The TLS dominance was achieved under a system that Elders strange, Wraith and jweet, know intimately well, the system under which they have repeatedly achieved victory for the past two years, and that is the Cincomm-9 Reputation and open-ended system. To have a pure answer to the question, CRAZY would have to defeat TLS in their region of dominance. But that region is no more.

First, beginning in the 13th Cycle, entry into the HOF will be obtained by score, not reputation. Reputation measures current strength, development and potential of a base, and can go up or down depending on wars, battle losses, or purchases of huge armies. Score, on the other hand, is a new addition, and awards points for various small achievements. Score can only go up, never down. The objective now, is to obtain the highest score. So while TLS are masters of finishing a round with high rep, how well will they do in achieveing a new goal that no one is familiar with? One might say the burden is on TLS to prove that they are indeed the ultimate "Strategists" and must in turn show a new strategy to change with the times.

Second, beginning in the 13th Cycle, bases are no longer boundary-less and limitless in size. This change might not bear so much on strategy, except for the fact that TLS is, and always has been, a small, tight-knit and efficient clan. Though they were small, under the previous limitless system, they could command limitless amounts of troops and defensives structures spanning endless miles of territory, as they were only limited to what to they could afford. Now, bases have finite space, an amount which can be increased through terraforming, but it is a big change from the past.

It is telling that in this new system, the clan that quickly rose to the top is the newest clan on Cincomm 9, the Cincomm 9 Commonwealth (C9C). Lead by an idealist leader Cpt. Ozzarkess, the clan has swelled to 30+ section leaders, gathering in many of the Cadets and newer player to the game with a few vets. It has been Cpt. Ozz's plan, as a new player himself, to accept and protect new players. At first, it appeared to many that C9C would be a prime target, many relatively weaker players in one spot to be harvested. C9C was quickly attacked at the start of the round, but apparently fired back in force and under Cpt. Ozz's leadership has held its own, now controlling three of the top score spots.

Meanwhile, the oldest clan in the game, METRO, has apparently done some recruiting and has grown in size to 12 members. Another veteran clan, CHAOS, has also picked up a few new members, as well as seen the return of one of its champions of old, Gen. Nneromancer. FATE and FOM are both under new leadership, although at the moment FATE's training clan FATE2 outnumbers the main clan. Perhaps due in part to the loss of their leaders, some members of FOM and FATE have left and formed a new clan, APEX. The Angels of Fury (AOF), a clan that has been around for a few rounds now, have split to form a new clan as well, Demons of Fury (DOF).

Who will rise to the top under the new system? Will TLS adapt and continue to dominate? Will Insanity is King with its spread of talent topple TLS? Will the C9C maintain its large numbers long enough for a lot of its members to become serious threats and be the first clan to last as a huge clan? What of the sudden growth in METRO and CHAOS and the return of veteran players to each? We will have the score to finish telling the tale in one month...
