END-ROUND SUMMARY

Noteworthy Events:
There were plenty in Round 18. It was a remarkable round that likely won't be matched for grandeur and achievement for quite some time.

At the top of the list extending his record setting streak at number one, most noteworthy is Cvelle's third consecutive top spot finish. This will be a record that will probably stay unbroken for a long time, but then again, you never know who's coming up. Add to that it was his fifth finish, earning him the Green Star, and you have possibly the best start ever: 5 out of 6 rounds earning HOF, 4 out of those 5 earning no. 1, and 3 of those no. 1's coming back to back. Most impressive, making him one of the Jordan/LBJ/Woods type figures that only appear one or two times in a generation.

Next is the end of one of the legends. Elder Megatron disbanded the oldest clan in the game, METRO, and played a surprisingly good solo round coming close to getting the 10th spot as an unaffiliated. METRO was actually the third clan ever formed in the game. For referrence, Apex is the 303rd clan. The current oldest clan mantle now falls to Chaos, led by Elder Rookie.

Another legend level event, for only the second time in Cincomm-9 history a player has earned the Red Star, the pinnacle of achievement from 10 HOF appearances. Although he earned it under the Apex banner, it will take a few more rounds for me to think of Wraith as Apex. In my mind that Red Star belongs to TLS, along with Elder strange, the other holder. Apex probably agrees and would prefer for their on home grown members to get it for Apex. And that is something that could happen this year, especially as the rounds are going to get shorter.

Next, we may refer to nastydog, Smidsy, Lewisha and woodall as "Generals" no longer. This round all four were promoted to Elder. They have certainly come a long way and congrats to all of them and thanks for their help in making the game what it is.

Additional congrats to Elder Lewisha, for earning a Green Star this round with a 5th HOF appearance.

Last but not least, the buzz about the clan implosion problem is growing louder. Some are calling for limits on clan size, others calling for forced shake up of all clans each round. Word on the streets is that Gen. Cvelle will not be competing next round and Elder nastydog will be starting or helping to lead a new clan, as he says in a post: "I'mm getting old, so time to pass down the exp gained." If Apex loses some of its top players and goes off to find Apex mountain like TLS did, who will pick up the mantle of top clan on Cincomm-9?

Of interet, Gen. Fortress has left FATE and is seeking to start his own clan. After an excellent finish this round, if he is able to attract the right people his new clan could be something to watch. There are plenty of good people for him to go after, including the aforementioned Maj. Armageddon of clan Merc and Col. Defiant of clan Chaos, as well as an exceptional unaffiliated player Cpt. Kitkat who finished in the top 20, and of course old school but active unaffiliates Elders megatron and justinsane.

C9C put together a brilliant attack on Lt. Gen. Balance near the end, will they be able to finally harness their true power in the Apex vaccuum? There is a lot of talent out there but Apex is top for reaching maximum potential right now. As reigning champs, all bets still hinge on what Apex will do, be it break up, ascend into quiet Elderhood, or remain to compete again. Looking forward to the next round.
